If the government is okay with people doing harm to themselves with alcohol, then why not with anything that actually does less harm?

Why should the demand for a drug play any role in it’s legality? It should be based on the potential harm to the user and their surroundings, period.

Because other illegal drugs are too difficult to control, while alcohol is more controllable due to it’s container and liquid form, and alcohol has always been demanded by humans since it was discovered.

Humans are lazy and pick and choose laws. If someone gets burned to death, then they do something to prevent it, but if people die by overdosing or crashing cars, no one does anything.
