What Would You Do…?

Question by Diana: What would you do…?
..if a homeless person stopped you and asked for money to buy something to eat? I had this happen to me today, I was working out , running and was stopped by a elderly man in a wheelchair near a grocery store, he asked me if I had money so he could buy some food..I honest to God had nothing, not a penny on me, then he asked if I had a charge card to buy him a sandwich and I didn’t have that with me ether because I did not bring my purse..I saw his sad face and felt soo bad, it was obvious he did not want it for booze or drugs, he was very old, am I right to feel sad for him? doesn’t he and other people have some kind of government assistance (I’m in Florida) or SSI?? on his wheelchair was a sticker that said “support veterans” why are so many of our veteran homeless, I feel so sad and helpless for these elderly people and especially for the children, Whats your opinion??

Thank you all.
I agree its horrible, and that we busy saving other nations that we are forgetting that we also have needy people here at home, I hope I can find someone (who will listen) to write to, if any of you have really good emails, petitions or phone numbers please post.

in my opinion he was a panhandler.

By what you say it does seem that he was genuinely hungry. I really have no patience for panhandlers, especially young hippy kids who should be working. But I would feel bad also for this man.
