Is Prank Calling Illegal?

Question by Jerry: Is prank calling illegal?
Ok, i prank called someone and i know it was extremely stupid and i immediately regret doing it right after i did it. I live in Alabama and i prank called one of my friend’s neighbors in North Carolina.
I told him a fake name and said i was with the neighborhood watch and i got a few tips he was promoting illegal drug use.

He then copied my fake name down and said he will call the police for further information the next day. I KNOW he may have been trying to scare me off, but what i’m concerned about is the possibility if he really DOES call the police. Can i get fined any, go to jail or anything like that? This was the first prank call i have ever made to him.
Extra Details-The call lasted for about 5 minutes and it did involve threats or insults, i mainly want to know what will happen to me if he really does call the police.
EXTRA DETAILS-i do know this can’t be considered harassment because i only called once and he never told me to “stop calling” so i can’t get in trouble for that. Or am i wrong?
