How Do You Report a Probation Violation in the State of North Carolina?

Question by Tom Tollery: How do you report a probation violation in the state of North Carolina?
If someone is on probation in the state of North Carolina and has violated their probation by constant drug abuse, how would you go about contacting their probation officer to get them drug tested? And if they did fail the drug test (which they will) what is the likely hood that they will be punished? This particular person has violated in the past and been caught with no consequences. Their drug abuse causes this person to stalk and threaten people (even when they get a restraining order against this person). Please help!

First, phone the office that serves the area where the person lives. They should be able to connect you to his PO. However, having someone phone in that a probationer is using drugs is not likely to result in much. I get such calls frequently from angry girl/boyfriends, neighbors, etc. If, however, someone is stalking you, or violating a restraining order, call the police, or go to the office of the prosecuting attorney and ask what you need to do. It varies from state to state, so, I’m not sure of the procedure in N.C.
