Can I Join Army Reserves or Nat Guard With This Profile?

Question by Stan: Can I join Army reserves or Nat Guard with this profile?
Would someone take a quick look at my profile and let me know if I would qualify for a position within the reserves or guard as an 09L Interpreter/Translator. Let me know if there may be ANY issues post-enlistment and what to expect if I find myself contractually obligated with no hope of getting into program.

– 38 yrs old – Male – caucasian – married no kids
– Lifelong resident in state of MS
– Excellent physical shape, very active
– BA degree (Psychology), HS diploma from hometown
– ten years working as consultant with major oil/gas company handling contracts and competitive intelligence with offshore experience
– Proficient in English, Portuguese (semi-proficient with speaking/reading Farsi/Arabic)
– Eagle scout, avid hunter/outdoorsman
– Joint own/operate small business in hometown (good financial standing)
– landowner/homeowner with no significant debt (small mortgage + 1 credit card)
– Currently rehabilitating student loans
– One conviction –> misdemeanors possession of marijuana/paraphernalia + concealed weapon (Aug 2000 – North Carolina – family vacation) – pardon pending via NC gov
– Two traffic tickets + expired drivers license charge
– No drug history post-Aug 2000.
– Solid family ties (no divorce-abuse, etc..)

Not sure if I’m leaving any details out (can add if need be), but that is my immediate picture. My biggest concern is obtaining the security clearance for this position plus getting a seat in the language school if I’m approved via testing, etc…

I’m considering also to apply for a position requiring a SECRET security clearance with a government contractor, completing the contract time and maybe enlisting before I turn 40 next year.
This may give me more time to brush up on my Farsi/Arabic and become more specific with dialects.

Possible that I may be able to go full-active in one year upon wife completing school and having ability to move around
The “one conviction” should have written to have been two, but I meant to say that it was all during the same incident.
