NHS scheme brings veterans peace of mind 05.09.12 – An NHS pilot scheme has been launched in the North West to help veterans adjust to civilian life. ‘Live at Ease’ began in April, after the NHS realised veterans with mental health issues were not responding to treatment as quickly as they should be owing to other problems in their lives. The scheme helps with housing, job-seeking and debt management, as well as drug or alcohol addiction. It runs until next June when it should have helped around a thousand veterans.
