How Do You Use Your GI Bill After Being Kicked Out of the Army for Drug Use? Can I Still Find a Good Job?

Question by Jennysmith92y: How do you use your GI bill after being kicked out of the army for drug use? Can i still find a good job?
I am at wits end as to what to do with my life. I havnt actutally seen the packet myself but the orderly room has turned in my chapter paperwork in to JAG. I had to go to a phyciatrist and do a physical for the chapter.; Number one, I would like to know how soon, if at all will i know im getting kicked out. I was involved with a guy who got in trouble for bigger things and drugs. I lied and told them I had no idea he was doing drugs and I told them I wasnt doing drugs either. CID investigated and they found some dirt. I told them the truth that I did know he was using and that I used once myself. I recieved a field grade article 15. I did 45 days extra duty, no restrictions, and lost pay and rank (E-2 to E-1). I know I was wrong and I definitly deserved punishment. but the expierence did teach me some valuable lessons. During my punishment, I really prooved myself. I worked my butt off. My NCOs all noticed the improvement and praised me. My first sergeant wants me to say really bad. Everyone told me that my paperwork would not go past the company level but it went back up. Do I have a chance? Can I challenge it somehow? and if I do get discharged how do I use my GI bill to attend college? And will I still be able to get a decent job maybe with my supply expierence? or even be able to get a job? will they deny me unemployment benefit after a discharge while trying to get another job? I really dont want to work under the table all my life. Im really an outstanding soldier who is an hardworker and awesome person. I worked hard before and lost all i ever had. I dont want to hit rock bottom again and thats why i am so scared. I lived out of my car for four months before I joined the army and was a waitress at a dinner in a small town in North Carolina (where I’m from). I have no dependents luckily. So i only have to depend on myself but I will have to move back into mama’s. Im young and I still have my entire life ahead of me. I know I have a prayer because I pray everynight on this situation but do I have a hope? I have been staioned in Wiesbaden, Germany for a year with the 1st Armored Division as a unit supply speacilist (92Y). Im scared my life is going to hell again.

Well, well I use to be in the Army so I can tell you a little info. If you got kicked out of the army for drug use you can’t use that GI BILL. If your DD214 displays that info on there. You can get a job but, I don’t think you want to tell them you were in the army if you got an dishonorable discharge. I wish you luck and hope you learn from your mistakes.
